Church History

In the summer of 1997, a small group began meeting for fellowship and prayer.  Then, Graham Cooke (who at the time was ministering out of Community Church, Southampton, England) came and encouraged the group to continue meeting with a focus on learning and discovering depth of relationship with one another.

In the spring of 1998, George and Sharon Comegys, along with Richard and Glenda Holcomb, formed a leadership base, officially founding Impact Christian Fellowship later that summer. For the next five years, George served as the teaching pastor, and God used him to establish our relational foundation by teaching extensively on the "one another" passages of Scripture for three of those five years while the fellowship met in a variety of locations around the area.  Eventually, twelve acres were purchased on Goat Creek Road in Kerrville, and construction of the first building began in 2001.  That building was completed and dedicated in September 2002, and Graham Cooke presided over that service.  As part of that meeting, Graham gave us a prophetic word that continues to define the scope of our work.

In the summer of 2003, David and Cindy Danielson (and their children) answered the call of God on their lives to come and serve in Kerrville, and David became our full-time pastor.  In 2005, because we had out-grown our first building, a new construction project began.  That building was completed and dedicated in December 2006.  Graham Cooke presided over that service, and also affirmed the addition of Franklin and Katie Bess Williamson to the leadership team.

Becoming a Part of the Impact Christian Fellowship Family

The Bible teaches that when a person becomes a Christian, they become members of the worldwide Church which has existed for many generations.  We believe this membership should also be expressed and worked out in a local church setting.  At Impact, we prefer to think of this commitment as being a partnership because it captures our heart to see each person equipped and actively involved in their work of ministry, and because we need one another to fulfill all that is in God's heart for each of us. If the Lord is drawing you to Impact, any of the core leadership members would be glad to talk with you about this decision.

Impact Discovery Group is a 10-week course designed to introduce our vision and values.  This course is offered several times a year, and each session is led by different members of our Core Team.  If you are interested in partnering with us, we encourage you to attend the Discovery Group sessions.
